ok listen up, i have a rather ambitious plan, what if we made our own doom WAD? we could replace the sprites of the enemies, make new levels and add more guns

does anyone here have expierience in modding doom? if so, we will discuss the creation of this WAD




making sprites is pretty easy, making levels is kidna like sources hammer editior as far as im aware. Doing everything else requires some coding/scripting knowledge as well I think.


i can make doom maps, tried some decorate stuff but it seemed too autistic for me


if eric harris could make an okay doom WAD with a mid 90s pc we can too

We need soyjak sprites from six different angles as well as attack and death animations to replace each demon. Or you could be lazy and just do front/back and Xs in the eyes when dead.

The story should be that Chudjak has been pushed far enough and the first half of this video is the opening cutscene. The gameplay to navigating the labyrinthine nuclear facility collecting obscure and hidden keycards to proceed further. At the end when you finally reach the core and make it go critical after challenging platforming above toxic waste the second half of this video plays as Chud achieves his dream. If people would rather play as soyjak then make a soyjak campaign with each story being contained within a single map. If it proves successful we could expand further upon it.

only issue is that the colour palette is limited to 256 colours

I’m kinda a chudjakker myself (made the chud spraying boymoder with an ak gif) but yeah I think Chudjak should take a backseat for this one. I mean, he can be the zombies or something, since they love guns, and the chaingunner’s a pretty formidable opponent. I think every variant should shine, not just Chud (which doesn’t really fit the whole stub n glasses thing in the first place. I’m kinda surprised he’s a jak in the first place)

What software are you using to make these? And which .wad editor and which level designer too? I used to make mods for Left 4 Dead 2 and make levels in Hammer editor so I can help create but I can't draw worth a damn so someone else will have to make the sprites.


if you want to put everything together into a wad just use SLADE


You can use pretty much every image editor to do .png sprites. For editing levels you can use DooM builder and for editing .pk3 use Slade


you can draw these with mspaint, im using this though >>2112920, easier for pixel art

It's photoshop with slightly less features for free and you can get addons

you just need to convert them into game files via SLADE, usually this is into a wad or pk3 as a doom graphic file

New weapon type: Rope
You click and hold down to immobilize a single enemy and build up an ACK meter. When the ack meter is fully filled the enemy dies with the ACK sound effect. It functions like the microwave beam from Doom Eternal.


Download the DooM palette and import it into a image editor, then you draw the basic shape and then you apply some shading

As for level design, I think we should make a convoluted maze-like format filled to the brim with backtracking and tedious platforming sections. Watch a youtube video of what normies consider bad level design and deliberately incorporate all the elements they complain about. I want the player to feel the utter contempt we have for her.

Make the opacity and size of the 'jaks higher after each level. Like in the first map they would be hidden in a corner or some shadow in the texture, but by the end everything's a massive 'jak gaping at you from every angle

Search for doom sprite sheets/textures and 'jak them up


A good place to find resources is downloading Slade and extracting things from the IWAD (DOOM2.WAD)

I opened up doom 2 and extracted the sprites. Then I spent about 5 minutes in GIMP trying to turn pinky into a feraljak and deleted it because it looked like shit then I gave up because it was too hard.

I feel like people are going too literal with it, trying to make the doom enemies into soy doom enemies. You can just take a gif like this, extract the frames, and make a sprite. It can just be a feraljak that floats around gnashing at the player.
The high-effort stuff is cool but there's plenty of room to 'jak it up. There's like a jillion assets in a WAD

TSMT. We can use a single sprite per enemy for the beta version of the game so that it looks the same from every angle. Make an early release and then add the other frames and animations as more are drawn.


I was thinking this too, doing all the angles is really unnecessary for a lot of things (maybe not bosses but regular enemies shouldn't matter)
