System76 is literally just Clevo. Do not buy from them if you care about quality.

Their laptops are yes and most models have a pretty meh reputation but that's why I posted their towers which are pretty gemmy and very well thought out. In fact you can buy their cases as a stand alone product now which is cool if you wanna DIY it.

>>16949
>yeah sure buddy pay 2000$ for a hunk of proprietary junk
They're actually pretty well built schizo.
>without any I/O
Frameworks have interchangeable ports so you don't have to carry a million stupid dongles like most nu-laptop manufacturers want you to. In fact the removable ports are arguably better because your not putting stress on the motherboard itself because they aren't soldered.
>and swap out the whole motherboard just to replace a CPU kek

drop it from 2 meters on the hard ground without spinning it, in closed state
put it in a freezer for a day (or longer after you took the battery out)
use the display lid as a cutting board
shoot one to the ISS and see if it survives, and even more importantly, is fit for their work there
until you pass all of these tests, have no backdoors, AND cost less than 100$, you will never be a real thinkpad.
oh yeah, and wheres the trackpoint?
i can't control a computer with a fucking touchpad lmao

thinkpads are still higher quality, and the de-facto freetard machines
also the rugged latitudes dont have trackpoints sadly
>>17093
>just
theyre more or less the same as an X200, T400, T500, or W500
its GM45 after all (i think)
you dont NEED more than a dual core
in fact, it will actually run SMOOTHER and more responsive because the single core performance is better than on modern quad or even octa core CPUs
2023 and still no 100% multi threading support for all software, LOL

I heard Intel's drivers work better on Linux than they do Wingblows last I checked.

 16452

Would this unironically make a good secondary card for my main one? There's a few at my local hardware shop for sale and I'm considering getting one.

If they're cheap, might as well.
Don't expect anything amazing doe and Intel may decide to pull out for no reason like always.

i run the latest modern software on it doe, computers didnt really change at all in that time, just the software did
the only new things are more backdoors, more computational power to run all the spyware and bloat, opengl >2.1, modern SSE shit, and modern vulkan shit
i wouldnt use any of those things anyway (aside from modern openGL but old GL works just as well), so that doesnt matter
there are more pros than cons to using old hardware
