I feel obligated to share this absolute gem of a documentary, Africa Addio (1966) . Within, a couple Italian dudes travel around Africa during the decolonial period, capturing colonial law, transitions of power, riots, slaughter of both man and beast, including the only known footage from the genocide in Zanzibar. The scale of death and destruction is unfathomable in this movie, senseless in a way fiction is not.
The original Italian version untouched by jewish-american Hollywood censors is a modern gem, available for free on YouTube
