Play the rest, you didn't get the true ending.
Episode 2 is slightly better than the last, it's more concentrated on the machines learning emotions and having their ebin "evolve
past your current self" crisis, Nier's iconic Lunar Tear flower also gets a focus here.
City Ruins, home... Another great song, I listen to it every other morning, at first I was let down that they didn't make the city bigger, since it's well, a city; but later came to appreciate it, the fact that I'm able to recognize where the road in the first pic leads makes it more immersive for me.
We get to see more of the resistance crew now; personally, I didn't pay much attention to them while playing the game so I'm glad they feel more alive here.
Lily, a new character not in the games, makes an appearance; she's mentioned in off-game material, so I'm guessing we're going to see more non-game references/side stories soon.
Best girls, best twins, also appeared earlier than I expected, I hope I get to see more of them, I love them so very much.
The CG is tolerable as long as it's not showing 2B's flight unit (they could've at least put an effort into shading that, seriously).
Kino shots left and right though, big ups in that department, post apocalyptic settings always provide that.
7.5/10; episode 1 is a 6, now that I think about it.
Best OST of this episode: City Ruins (Rays of Light)
Nice review anon ^^, haven't played the game so just judging the anime o it's own. Episode 1 felt kind of empty but the animation looks nice (not the 3d rendering didn't like that). The soundtrack as you included was definitely a high point for episode 2. 2B looks cute and the tempo in both episodes seems good as well.
