The overreaction to Frontier has definitively proven that the gaming "community" absolutely deserves the shit it gets. Even if some of the creators were deplorables (it's the internet, almost all content creators are), the sheer amount of negative feedback it got is pretty fucking petty. It's a FREE mod, I could understand if you had to pay money for it, but getting upset that someone didn't deliver you an adequate gaming experience when it was free in the first place is retarded. Some of the criticisms don't even make sense. The "humor" is just as bad in Fallout 2, or are people forgetting that you could get gagged and fisted by a supermutant?

I would be less upset if other people made mods of Frontier's scale, but nobody wants to put the time nor effort into it, despite it being one of the few times when "just make your own [x] bro" is actually applicable.

NV>3>1>2>4

1/2: 100+ hours in each
3/NV: 200+ hours in each
4: 400+ hours

I can say definitively and for a fact that this is the correct ranking.

I only played the first few levels of Tactics and could tell it wasn't my cup of tea so I stopped playing (so no opinion). Brotherhood I don't need to play to know it's shit. 76 I had a friend loan me since he thought it was shit, but honestly it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. It has a LOT of problems and despite what others will say I think adding NPCs actually made the game worse because the one thing it had going for it was a great atmosphere. Overall a 2/10 game though.

Here's my definitive ranking, having played each game at least once:

NV: 9.8/10
Nigh perfect game. Everything from the story to the atmosphere to the soundtrack is incredible. Probably one of the most original storylines in gaming. Only thing keeping it from being perfect in my opinion is the Legion hit squads. If you make enemies with the Legion they pretty much ruin exploration for the rest of the game and can even kill other NPCs, ruining quests.

3: 9/10
One of the best atmospheric and exploration open world games out there. Amazing art direction; I owned one of the art books and you can tell they put a lot more effort into 3 than 4. Loses a full point for not letting you join the Enclave (they clearly rushed the last two quests in development), and D.C.'s subway system can be annoying to navigate.

1: 8/10
Same as 3, great atmosphere and no location or point of interest feels wasted. You can tell the developers were very passionate about the game. Loses 2 points just because the SPECIAL system wasn't fine tuned yet and the game sort of forces you to put at least 8 into Agility. I found this out the hard way when I got to the end of the game in my first playthrough and kept dying to the same enemies because I couldn't attack enough times in my turn.

2: 6/10
Fixes 1's SPECIAL problems and adds more content, but it feels like quantity over quality. Too many of the areas feel like repeats of previous areas. Biggest problem imo is the change in tone. Fans are pretty split on 2's sense of humor, and personally I think it really damaged the tone of the game. I felt like I couldn't take anything seriously. Other times it was just lowbrow. I remember one of the NPCs in New Reno mentioning donkey punches and just thought that was disgusting.

4: 5/10
Very mediocre, middle-of-the-road game. I feel like it had a lot of potential to be on par with New Vegas, but it dropped the ball hard. It ignored all the lore buildup from 3/NV and felt more like a reboot than a sequel. There were some elements that I thought were okay like how they revamped power armor, but that's not good enough to propel it past a 5. If I had to describe the game in two words, they would be: "plastic" and "sanitized". Honestly I'm being generous not giving it a 4/10.

I expect TES VI to be rushed (despite being a generation late anyways) and sanitized even harder than FO4. One of the things I loved about TES was that I felt they could explore sensitive subject matters like race and politics in elaborate ways since they weren't constrained by real world sensibilities, especially in Morrowind and Skyrim. I would have been hyped for TES VI (which will probably be set in Hammerfell) if it had come out 5 years earlier, but I know that the game is just going to pander to BLM and other identity politics garbage now like making Redguards incorruptible moral beacons.
